Bhubaneswar: “5T was not introduced to reform the education system, but to nurture party workers,” Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has stated. However, a starkly different reality appears to be unfolding in the capital city, where the commercialisation of education is allegedly continuing in broad daylight at BJEM School, Bhubaneswar. Amid allegations of excessive and non-transparent fee collection, nearly 4,000 parents had approached the Ekram MLA, Shri Babu Singh, seeking justice and accountability. While assurances were reportedly given at the time, parents now allege that the MLA has since aligned himself with the school management, publicly claiming that “everything at the school is fine.” Despite this, parents continue to wait for justice. No clear disclosure of the school’s expenditure or justification of fee hikes has been placed in the public domain so far.

Parents are now demanding answers:
When will the school present a transparent account of its expenses?
Will the elected representative respond to the concerns of thousands of affected families?
The issue has triggered growing concern over accountability and transparency in private school governance in the state capital.
