Bhubaneswar: A complaint was filed today before the State Information Commission against the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies (JRCS), Shri Pramod Kumar Sahu, alleging non-compliance with Section 19(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005. The complaint highlights serious concerns regarding the assignment and discharge of statutory responsibilities under the RTI Act. Entrusting RTI-related duties to an authority allegedly lacking adequate knowledge of the Act raises significant legal and administrative questions.

The unexplained inaction, failure to adhere to statutory timelines, and lack of transparency on the part of the JRCS have prompted calls for strict scrutiny by the Commission. Citizens and transparency advocates have emphasized that such lapses undermine the spirit of the RTI Act and violate the public’s fundamental right to information. The people of Odisha seek accountability, adherence to the rule of law, and effective enforcement of the Right to Information Act, 2005.
